Matt is a Director in GTM’s New York Metro office. He is responsible for managing corporate income tax compliance, accounting for income taxes, and consulting engagements for clients in a wide range of industries. Matt brings extensive experience in federal, state, and international taxation to GTM’s clients and has successfully completed compliance, audit, and financial reporting cycles in many jurisdictions.
Prior to joining GTM, Matt held roles of increasing responsibility for publicly traded Barnes & Noble Education Inc., including his position as the head of tax. In this role, he guided internal and external resources across all tax compliance and reporting workstreams while serving as the company’s key in-house technical resource. His teams worked on various acquisitions and dispositions and mitigated the impact of major tax law changes.
Matt began his career in the Industry Services Group at PwC, where he worked on audit, compliance, and provision engagements primarily for large multinational corporations. His blend of public and private tax experience uniquely positions him to better understand and find practical solutions to the challenges facing today’s tax departments. His professional acumen, combined with GTM’s resources, allow him to serve as a trusted advisor and everyday partner to his clients.
Matt currently lives in Long Valley, NJ, with his wife and three young sons. In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoys playing soccer and hockey and spends much of his free time outdoors.
