Tom Gottfried

Managing Director, VRC

Tom specializes in business enterprise, credit/debt instruments, equity, and intangible asset and portfolio valuations. He has more than 15 years of experience in planning, facilitating, and leading client-specific valuation engagements related to corporate reorganizations, mergers & acquisitions, and restructurings. Tom has worked with closely held businesses and Fortune 500 companies across various industries including biotechnology, consumer products, financial services, fintech, insurance, life sciences, and technology. He has performed valuation analyses across the globe, including in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and South America. He has assisted clients with valuations for deals and restructurings ranging from $10 million to $60 million. Prior to joining VRC, Tom held leadership positions in Ernst & Young’s Strategy & Transaction team. He began his career in debt capital markets at BNP Paribas and also held roles at Baker & McKenzie; Dentons (Salans,) and within KPMG’s Economic and Valuation Services team. Tom holds a master of business administration degree in accounting, analytic finance, economics, entrepreneurship, and strategy from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He also holds a master of law degree in taxation from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law. He is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the state of New York.
