JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Indirect Tax Analyst in our State & Local Tax Service will be responsible for the preparation and delivery of sales and use tax returns for our clients in various industries. Responsibilities include the preparation and review of sales and use tax returns, resolution of tax authority notices and inquiries, interaction with clients to accomplish assignments, as well as tax research.

The Indirect Tax Analyst will also engage in implementing, upgrading and maintaining tax technology tools used to support the tax compliance practice, as well as providing transaction tax automated solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Retrieving, processing and finalizing raw tax data from the client’s system through GTM’s software (e.g. SAP/Vertex)
  • Preparing and Filing Sales and Use Tax Returns
  • Analyzing and reconciling data to support the tax compliance process
  • Logging, researching and responding to client tax notices and inquiries
  • Maintaining and implementing automated tax technology solutions
  • Interacting closely with client needs on a day-to-day basis regarding tax compliance and consulting matters
  • Reconciling client’s internal Sales & Use Tax GL Account and Sales & Use Tax Bank Accounts
  • Preparing and updating Business Registrations

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a Business-related field
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Microsoft Access experience preferred
  • Must have strong math aptitude and computer skills
  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed and to travel to local client locations, up to 10% out of town travel required

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Come join us and advance your career with GTM!  We currently have an immediate opening for Tax Automation Services (TAS) Analyst to execute the functional and technical aspects of projects, including the implementation of tax automation software and related processes, requirements analysis, tax process design and configuration.

GTM’s TAS department is a client facing team that provides tax technology consulting services to the market, most commonly focused on corporate income taxes.

The TAS Analyst will work directly with other members of the TAS team to learn the details of all products serviced prior to direct engagement with clients regarding these systems. In addition to this on the job training, the TAS Analyst will the opportunity to participate in specified formal training exercises geared towards certification in specific tax products (ONESOURCE).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of tax technology products for corporate tax departments, including ONESOURCE, Corptax, Longview, Vertex and other systems (primarily income tax related software)
  • Assist with integrating tax products with Hyperion, SAP and other ERP or consolidation tools
  • Assist with integrating tax provision products with tax compliance software and Excel workpapers
  • Support the testing of internally developed solutions, like Excel macros and other models
  • Create documentation that explains implementation details, maintenance procedures, and system processes
  • Perform day-to day operational aspects of projects – prepare status updates, budget updates, etc.
  • Work on teams that directly interact with clients through email, phone and in person meetings
  • Assist TAS management with the preparation of client and internal trainings material as well as sales and marketing collateral

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Information Technology preferred

The SALT Senior Tax Analyst will apply their prior experience to coordinate all aspects of the client’s sales and use tax audit, including gathering data, interfacing with auditors, and helping to reduce any potential assessment.  Experience in providing similar functions in a corporate or consulting setting is a must.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administering sales tax audits for various States including responding to auditor inquiries, gathering supporting documentation, and addressing / abating assessment items
  • Delivering sales tax consulting services including analyzing and streamlining client’s processes and procedures, general sales tax research, and assisting clients in performing the day-to-day duties of the sales tax function including compliance.
  • Administering sales tax/audit refund engagements including invoice review, sales tax issue identification, gathering supporting documents, and preparation / filing refund claims and audit appeals

  • CMI and/or CPA, preferred

  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact with clients and colleagues at all levels
  • Strong organization skills a must
