Global Tax Management Expands State & Local Tax (SALT) Practice

RADNOR, Pa.–(March 12, 2015) (BUSINESS WIRE) — Leading Mid-Atlantic tax firm, Global Tax Management, Inc. (GTM), is expanding its State and Local Tax (SALT) practice. As part of that initiative, the company recently hired Chau H. Tran to lead the firm’s direct tax services for its SALT practice. In this role, Tran is actively engaged with multistate clients to perform tax planning, audit assistance, tax accounting support, tax compliance services, tax return review, M&A support, and project management.

“Chau’s 15+ years of state and local tax consulting experience with companies in the manufacturing, pharmaceutical and utilities industries make her an excellent fit to lead the direct tax area of our SALT practice,” noted Dave Laurinaitis, GTM’s Managing Director. “Her specialization in income and incentives addresses a growing need among our clients. We are pleased to have Chau join GTM, as we continue to expand both our direct and indirect SALT capabilities and offerings for our clients.”

Prior to joining GTM, Tran most recently served as a Managing Director in the State and Local Tax Practice for KPMG in Philadelphia. She is a CPA licensed in Pennsylvania, and a member of the American Institute of CPAs. Tran earned her B.S. in Accounting from Bucknell University, and a Master of Taxation from Villanova University. She also co-authored the 2004 – 2012 editions of the Pennsylvania Tax Handbook, published by American Lawyer Media.

In addition to Tran, the indirect tax portion of GTM’s SALT practice, which focuses on sales and use tax, has added several new full-time employees to service a growing client base. GTM has re-located the indirect tax team to its Radnor, PA corporate headquarters thus expanding office space in the Radnor Financial Center, and promoting greater synergy among the entire SALT team. GTM has seen rising demand for audit representation and refund services in response increased audit activity by state governments across the US. In addition to helping clients reduce assessments and identify overpayments, the SALT indirect tax team implements improved compliance processes, including enhanced use of technology, to avoid recurring assessments and overpayments.

GTM’s SALT practice provides tax departments and controllers with the consultative guidance, in-house tax technology expertise, and ongoing support needed to manage tax responsibilities effectively. Comprehensive services cover both direct and indirect state and local taxes.
