GTM Launches GTM Training Institute to Address Tax Talent Gap

Global Tax Management (GTM), one of the nation’s premier professional services firms focused exclusively on delivering corporate tax services, announced today that it has launched GTM Training Institute, a practical, online learning program to help in-house tax department staff build income tax compliance and tax provision competencies.

Based on more than 25 years of delivering corporate tax services and developing training programs for its own tax personnel, GTM made the decision to launch its training institute as a distinct practice after identifying significant and ongoing talent gaps in the market. With tax professionals in high demand and short supply, the fully remote program empowers tax departments to train their talent and build from within to retain their top performers.

The virtual instructor-led program provides up to 51 continuing professional education (CPE) credits for participants, with a pace that allows working tax professionals to digest and apply the learnings as they progress. The robust 34-class program is broken down into three distinct courses encapsulating the dynamics of a corporate tax department and the essential skills needed to perform as a member of the tax team.

  • Course 1: Income Tax Compliance (Basics)
Featuring 11 classes that run for 75 minutes in duration, this course examines the typical workings of the department, the roles and responsibilities of team members, and how they interplay with the rest of the business. Classes also define essential compliance functions and how to perform each function.
  • Course 2: Income Tax Compliance (Intermediate)
Featuring 12 classes that run for 75 minutes in duration, Course 2 focuses on intermediate compliance activities, delving deeper into the particulars of a consolidated return and the interplay between federal, state, and international returns.
  • Course 3: Tax Provision Basics
Taking the concepts presented in Courses 1 and 2, this course covers the connection from compliance to provision, examining financial statement reporting, and how to perform basic tax provision functions in accordance with ASC 740.

GTM is now accepting registrations for its upcoming session, which begins on September 7, 2022. Learn more about the GTM Training Institute and view our full course catalog here.
