Global Tax Management (GTM), a corporate tax services firm dedicated to helping mid-size and large multinational corporations address complex tax operations, announced today that Nicole “Nikki” McKinney has joined as a Director in the firm’s Lead Tax Practice, based in the firm’s Philadelphia Metro office. Nikki specializes in tax accounting for regulated utility companies and will be integral to the growth of the firm’s energy and utility practice as she shares her experience with a variety of complex tax needs, including regulatory accounting, SEC reporting, accounting for income taxes, and navigating tax implications of rate case filings.
Prior to joining GTM, Nikki oversaw regulatory tax and accounting at UGI Utilities in Pennsylvania for nearly a decade. In that role, she acted as an expert witness on multiple rate cases with UGI and managed the implementation of PowerTax in its regulated and non-regulated subsidiaries. In addition to her utility tax work, Nikki has worked in the accounting and tax departments of multiple small to mid-sized businesses. Most recently, she served as the managing director of a professional services management firm, overseeing financial and operational aspects.
“Nikki is well versed in the complex tax intricacies unique to utility companies, from regulatory compliance and asset depreciation, to tax credits and varying state and local taxes within their operations,” said Christine Funkhouser, Chief Revenue Officer & Managing Director of GTM. “We look forward to the many contributions she will make to the growth of GTM’s footprint both geographically and within the energy and utility industry.”
Nikki’s previous experience includes roles as Senior Tax Manager at UGI Utilities, as well as providing tax accounting and compliance services at Dentsply Sirona, the world’s largest manufacturer of professional dental products and technologies; Baker Tilly; and Andersen.
Based in the Lancaster area, Nikki is particularly familiar with state and local tax considerations relevant to Central Pennsylvania. She is a Certified Public Accountant and received both her bachelor’s degree in International Business/Management, Minor in Accounting and her Master of Accountancy from Villanova University.
“Since I have long admired GTM and heard such positive things about its service and culture, I am excited to have the opportunity to return to my professional roots in tax and help the firm expand its work in the regulated utility space,” said McKinney.
