Global Tax Management Expands Property Tax Practice

(February 6, 2019) — Corporate tax services firm Global Tax Management, Inc. (GTM) announced today the addition of property tax veteran Robert (Bob) Butterbaugh to the firm’s State and Local Tax (SALT) practice. As Practice Leader for Property Tax Services, Bob is responsible for oversight and delivery of all property tax outsourcing and advisory services offered by the firm. This includes property tax compliance, valuation review and appeals, audit support, and fixed asset and reclassification reviews. Property Tax Practice

Driving the expansion of the practice was the reality that many companies may not recognize property tax as a controllable cost that impacts the bottom line. If not addressed properly, this can often lead to missed savings opportunities, including allowable deductions and exemptions. As a result, GTM has recognized an increased need for outsourced property tax offerings.

“Many companies view property tax as pure compliance but don’t always have the depth of technical knowledge to file correctly and take advantage of allowable savings opportunities,” noted Dave Laurinaitis, CEO and Executive Director at GTM. “Bob has spent his entire career specializing in property tax and possesses a depth of knowledge rarely found in the field. We are pleased to welcome Bob and bring our clients additional capabilities to support all of their property tax needs.”

Bob’s 35+ year career has included leadership roles in both Big4 public accounting firms (EY and PwC), as well as Fortune 500 companies such as MCI (now part of Verizon), Kraft Foods (now KraftHeinz), and DuPont (now DowDuPont). While at DuPont, Bob led the global grants and incentives and property tax practices and was responsible for real and personal property tax (compliance, negotiation, litigation, planning, and reporting). Nationally, he has provided property tax administration, appeals, and consulting services with a focus on complex properties in multiple industries including manufacturing, retail, telecommunications, transportation, and utilities.

Known for his presentations at industry conferences and symposiums across the U.S., Bob is a sought-after speaker, active member, and past president of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT). He received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Indiana University and an MBA in Finance from DePaul University.
